We Won’t Pay Teachers Rent – TEWU
The Teachers and Educational Workers Union, TEWU, has objected to a direction from the Ghana Education Service, GES, that all GES employees who live in government bungalows have 10% of their wages removed as rent.
Cassandra Twum Ampofo, GES’s Public Relations Officer, previously indicated that the move is not a new occurrence.
The mandate, according to TEWU General Secretary Mark Denkyira Korankye, is “an imposition that has the potential to disrupt the peaceful climate in the educational sector.”
He urged GES to convene a roundtable discussion on the impasse with the various Teacher Unions and others.
