Wa Sex Flogging: This Is Horrible – Oye Lithur
Nana Oye Lithur, a former Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, has slammed the Upper West Regional Police Command for failing to intervene in the Wa flogging of two people over a leaked sex film.
In an interview, Nana Oye Lithur stated, “This is horrible, to say the least. It paints a very bad picture of the municipality and the country as a whole. I am very shocked that all relevant authorities are saying the incident happened in their absence. Why should this happen in 2022?”
She stated that she is not surprised by the “reaction of a section of the public over the leaked sex tape, on moral grounds, but that the security, whose duty it is to maintain law and order, could not intervene.”
“I am disappointed in the inability of security agencies, particularly the police, to maintain law and order. It is an issue of serious concern,” she added.
According to reports, the two were apprehended by several young men in the town and taken to the Palace.
Because the Wa Naa was not present when they arrived, the young men were forced to take matters into their own hands and administer punishment.
Each of them received twenty lashes.
Ghanaians have expressed their displeasure with the occurrence and have demanded that those responsible be sanctioned.
