Two Arrested In The Death of US Citizen Inside An Accra Hotel
Two people have been picked up by the police in the death of an American citizen found dead at Rayporah hotel in Accra.
The police say the death was reported on December 14th by Julie Diane Williams.
A statement from the police said the Police have held a series of meeting with the family of the deceased through zoom to give them details.of the investigations so far.
ACP Kwasi Fori, Director -General, Public Affairs of the police service says the police are undertaking thorough work in done to ascertain what led to the death of the young American.
It will be recalled that Julie arrived in Ghana from Nigeria on Dec 4 but was put in isolation and was picked up by friends on December 6 to Zoko Lounge.
Police say she checked out of the hotel on Dec 12, but could not travel to Nigeria as intended because of visa issues.
She, therefore, returned to her hotel and checked in again.
On Tuesday, police said they received a complaint from hotel staff that the deceased was unresponsive in her room.
The Police says on 29th December, an autopsy was conducted on the deceased in the presence of officials and a representative of the family, Godwin King Akpalu. They say the United States embassy in Ghana has been informed and is in contact with the police to assist with investigations.
