George Opare Addo, the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) National Youth Organizer, has asked the government to make the cash spent on the recent Electronic Transaction Levy (E-levy) Townhall meetings public.

This follows the government’s first Townhall meeting on the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy) in Koforidua, Eastern Region, on January 27, 2021, organized by the Information Ministry.

Mr. Opare Addo described the government’s Townhall gatherings to educate the people on the importance of paying the e-levy as a waste of money.

During a press conference on Monday, he said, “I’ve provided specific reasons, and they should inform us how much money they spend on Townhall meetings. By the time they’re done, I’m sure they’ll have spent more than the $6 billion they anticipate they’ll earn from the E-levy.”

The funds, according to the party, might have been put to better use in other areas of the suffering economy.

The party also asked that all other Townhall meetings be canceled immediately.
