Suspected Robber Shot By Police
During a shootout in the Nyariga Forest along the Bolgatanga-Nyariga stretch on the afternoon of February 27, 2022, police in the Upper East Region shot and killed a suspected robber.
While on patrol, the police force received information that armed bandits were attacking sellers at the Nyariga market.
When the squad arrived at the specified spot, they were met by three young males brandishing pump-action firearms.
The robbers got into a shootout with the cops, and one of them was killed, but the other two managed to flee.
The injured suspect was brought to the Regional Hospital for treatment, but the medical officer pronounced him dead upon arrival.
In the meantime, his body has been preserved at the Regional Hospital Morgue.
The pump-action gun with serial number MVS4951A loaded with five (5) rounds of BB cartridge ammo he was using was among the items taken from him.
A rucksack was also discovered at the site, containing eleven (11) rounds of the same BB cartridge ammunition.
The police are urging Nyariga’s chiefs and residents to come forward with any credible information that could lead to the arrest of the other accused.
