STMA MCE Returns To His Position Despite Assaulting Police Officer
The suspended Chief Executive for the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Abdul Mumin Issah has been reinstated.
A letter signed by Dan Botwe, the Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development confirmed the reinstatement.
“I wish to inform you that H. E. the President of the Republic in response to recommendations made by the Western Regional Coordinating Council, has approved the reinstatement of Mr. Abdul Mumin Issah as the Metropolitan Chief Executive for the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly,” the letter addressed to the Western Regional Minister said.
Meanwhile, Abdul Mumin Issah in February was suspended after an arrest for a road traffic offense and alleged assault on a police officer.
He was suspended from office pending an inquiry into his encounter with the Police on February 3, 2022.
“Without prejudice to the matter now before the court, the government takes a very dim view of the comments made by the Metropolitan Chief Executive during his exchanges with the Police,” the suspension letter from the sector Minister read.
He was also arraigned before the court and granted a Ghc100, 000 bail.
