Associate professor of political science and former Director of the Center for European Studies of the University of Ghana Professor Ransford Edward Van Gyampo tells the government to learn from their defeat as a political party.

According to Prof. Gyampo, the outgoing General Secretary for New Patriotic Party (NPP) John Boadu lost his position because of the shambolic attitude of handle of party internal elections.

Jonh Boadu’s unable to handle their party’s internal Parliamentary primaries elections very well is the main factor that causes anger and disaffections within the party leading them to lose many seats in the general elections.

“If you are a General Secretary and you supervised elections that lead to a loss of many seats and can’t handle your internal primaries properly then you caused a lot of anger and disaffections,” he said.

Prof Gyampo described NPP’s last victory in his view as a ‘Victory with a taste of Defeat’, because what is of utmost importance to Ghanaians is their living conditions.

“Electing somebody to a position in a political party does not necessarily improve the living conditions of the good people of Ghana,” he added.
