President Akufo-Addo Condemns Road Carnage
President Akufo-Addo has ordered that traffic laws and regulations be severely enforced by the Ghana Police Service.
The President has entrusted road safety organizations to come up with new and clever traffic management methods to alleviate the carnage on the country’s roadways, describing road accidents as a global public health crisis.
The President condemned indiscipline and disregard for road safety standards while speaking in Accra at the inaugural Kofi Annan Road Safety Award.
President Akufo-Addo stated that the country’s existing road safety status is unsatisfactory.
He stated that the government will increase investment in road safety issues and take prompt and decisive action to address the problem.
In order to address road safety challenges, he advocated for greater coordination among all parties.
The inaugural beneficiaries of the prizes were Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa.
