Ghana’s president, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo has described the e-levy as a must adding that the nation can no longer rely on foreign grants as the backbone of the economy.

He said the effect of the covid pandemic has been so devastating it has created a wide gap in revenues therefore the need to look inward to generate enough.

President Akuffo Addo was speaking with a delegation from Dzodze who called on him at the Jubilee house.

He said in 2020 and 2021 there were serious revenue shortfalls because most individuals and organisations who could work and pay taxes were grounded due to the impact of covid lockdowns.

He said the government was also forced to overspend due to the free water and electricity to mitigate the effect of hardship on the people.

President Akuffo Addo says Ghana must find the money for its development adding that “I am determined to persevere to build the nation, he said

Togbui Dey 111 who led the delegation of chiefs requested expansion of water for the growing population of their lands as well as their markets and the completion of Dzodze roads.
