Police Restore Calm on KNUST Campus
The Police in the Ashanti Regional capital Kumasi have restored calm on the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) campus after a violent clash between students of the Katanga and Unity Halls of the University on Thursday evening.
The Police say they are in full control of the situation and an investigation is ongoing to arrest those behind the unscrupulous crime.
The Police in a statement said:
“We, therefore, urge all law-abiding members of the university community to remain calm and support the police as we deal with the situation,”
Clashes between students at Katanga and Unity Halls at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have resulted in vandalism and the destruction of property.
Videos from the scene saw several cars being damaged.
The report reveals Students of Katanga Hall were having a procession as part of their hall week but, ended up at the Unity Hall.
Students of both halls pelted each other resulting in vandalism.
There has been no death recorded so far except for some minor injuries.
