Police Officer Remanded Over Lamashegu Shooting
General Corporal Samson Kweku Darfour, the police officer who reportedly shot 24-year-old Rahman Jibril, who was driving an unauthorized vehicle in the Lamashegu incident, has been remanded in custody by a Tamale Circuit Court.
The cop, who appeared in court on Wednesday morning, is scheduled to appear in court again on February 24.
Darfour, a General Corporal, has been charged with endangering others.
Corporal Monny K. Koranteng, a second police officer, has been charged with offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace after posting statements on social media that were deemed disrespectful to the Lamashe Naa and the people of Dagbon.
He has been released on bail for GHS5,000 with two sureties.
On February 28, he is scheduled to appear in court.
“God will punish you for talking lies here,” Corporal Koranteng wrote on Facebook.
“Because I am present, no one has been brutalized. You kidnapped a cop and snatched his raffle in your filthy castle.
You were hurling stones when reinforcements arrived, Moa,” he added.
