Police Officer Crushed To Death By Speeding Tundra
While on duty at the Akwadum barrier on the Koforidua – Suhum road in the Eastern Region, General Constable Christ Quarshie had no idea that will be his last day on duty as a speeding Tundra, crushed into him, leaving him with life threatening injuries.
It was those injuries that killed him while undergoing treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.
The accident happened around 12.10 am on Thursday, December 9, 2021, while on duty with other colleagues.
The driver John Adu Agyei, 53, was speeding from Koforidua to Suhum in an unregistered Toyota Tundra with DV number 3518c-21.
On reaching a section of the road at Akwadum Police Check Point he crashed into the barricade and knocked down the police officer.
The victim sustained injuries and was rushed to St. Joseph Hospital in Koforidua where he was admitted for treatment
Unfortunately, Constable Christ Quarshie died on Friday, December 10, 2021, at about 1:00 am.
The body has since been conveyed to the police hospital morgue.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, the driver is in police custody assisting the investigation.
