
Police Gun Down Two Armed Robbers, One Arrested
The Police Service has shot two suspected robbers dead at Manso Dawusaso in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region.
The victims were shot while one other identified as Abraham Kwesi Tetteh was arrested during an intelligence-led operation by the Anti-Robbery Task Force in the Ashanti Region.
According to the Police, a gang attempted to rob a gold dealer at his home on September 24.
A statement dated September 29 and signed by the Director-General of Public Affairs, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kwesi Ofori said at about 9:00 pm on Friday, the suspects forcibly invaded the residence of a gold dealer, disarmed the private security guard on duty of his weapon and fired shots into the residence.
But the Police Combat team which had mounted a 24-hour surveillance on the gang, returned fire to protect the innocent lives in and around the property.
As a result, the two who sustained gunshot wounds were arrested and sent to the hospital but were subsequently pronounced dead.
The statement said the four suspects managed to escape and the Police had launched a manhunt to track and arrest them.
A shotgun, pistol, and a taxi cab were retrieved and are in police custody.
The Police service had entreated health facilities in and around the Amansie South District to report the presence of any individual or group of people who would come with gunshot wounds to the police.
The Police called on residents, especially around the Amansie South District, to volunteer any information that will lead to the arrest of the four suspects.
