Some University of Education, Winneba protesting students have been dispersed by the police using tear gas (UEW).

The students were voicing their displeasure over what they claimed to be inconsistencies between their results and those that were displayed on the university’s notice boards and web portals.

The university is ready to take a break, and the students claim that they wanted to know their actual test scores before the break so that the new semester could start.

According to reports, the university administration had set up a meeting with level 400 students in particular to discuss the matter today.

The students apparently gathered in large numbers and reportedly went on the rampage after waiting for a while and seeing no sign of the meeting taking place.

According to reports, some interfered with administrative tasks and lectures.

According to reports, they utilized broken sign posts and tree branches to obstruct some campus roadways.

As a result, the police were requested to step in.

The initial police responders couldn’t keep the students under control when they arrived, so they requested reinforcement.

This led to the use of tear gas to scatter the students.
