Plantain Thief Stoned To Death
Caleb, a suspected plantain thief, was stoned to death at Mankessim in the Central Region’s Mfantseman Municipality.
He was discovered tied to a palm tree with a plantain bunch beside him.
Stones, blocks, and sticks were found beside him, believed to have been used in the lynching of him by unknown individuals.
According to the evidence acquired, the suspect went missing around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022, when he went to town and never returned.
For hours, family members and local teenagers looked for him, but he was nowhere to be found.
They later discovered him tied to a Palm tree at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, suspected of being stoned to death with apparent signs of violence.
In an interview, Assemblyman for Metro Electoral Area Hon. Cephas Arthur said that this is the third time in a week that people have been lynched in Mankessim, a phenomenon he described as very concerning.
According to him, the suspect used to work at one of Mankessim’s stores, and neighbors are surprised that he was suspected of stealing a bunch of plantains.
According to the Assemblyman, he believes he was murdered and that plantains were placed next him to make others believe he stole and was murdered.
In the meantime, the deceased’s body has been stored at the Saltpond Government Hospital morgue while police investigate.
