Obuasi: Six Fire Officers Injured On Their Way To Fight Fire Outbreak
Six fire officers have been hospitalized after a fire tender they were traveling in somersaulted while on their way to quench a fire breakout at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
The officers received a distress call at 12 pm on Sunday to quench a fire at a residential apartment at Kyekyewere, a suburb of Obuasi.
The driver of the tender, upon reaching a portion of the road around Obuasi Sports Stadium, tried to steer the vehicle of an ongoing bridge construction but ended up in a building. The tender capsized over leading to injuries of eight officers. Two of the other officers were treated and discharged while the other six are still on admission at the Obuasi Government Hospital and the AGA Health Foundation.
The Ashanti Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service, ACFO I Henry Giwah blamed the incident on the failure of construction workers to place sign indicators to caution road users
