Non-Teaching Staff of Education Colleges To Meet NLC Today Over Ongoing Strike
The Ghanaian College of Education Non-Teaching Staff Association intends to meet with the National Labour Commission today, Wednesday, to discuss a possible indefinite strike.
From Monday, April 11, 2022, the union went on strike indefinitely.
This comes as a result of the competent authorities’ unwillingness to act on their behalf for better working conditions, according to the association.
They said that their walkout was motivated by several reasons, including incorrect placement of First Degree Holders, non-payment of migration arrears, exclusion of payment of Generic Allowances, partial payment of Office Holding Allowances, and non-payment of Interim Market Premium arrears.
Samuel Opoku, the Association’s National Secretary, spoke with an Accra-based radio station this morning about their expectations for the conference.
“They want to honor the NLC’s invitation and challenge them to do what the employers desire,” he said.
