The National Cathedral Secretariat has denied the assertion that it has paid $50,000 to Ghanaian American-based gospel musician Sonnie Badu during the Fundraising Launch for the National Cathedral in the United States of America in 2019.

In a statement signed by Executive Director of the National Cathedral Ghana, Dr. Paul Opoku Mensah reads “There are reports of the payments of $50,000 to singer Sonnie Badu for his performance at the launch of the National Cathedral Fundraising in Washington DC on February 8, 2019. The secretariat has not paid any money, neither is it aware of any such payment to Sonnie Badu”.

Earlier reports were circulating on social media that gospel musician Sonnie Badu has been paid an amount of $50,000.

The singer replied to the accusations in a post, “Wow, thanks for alerting me, I was not given a dime… not even a seat for my team and I, we stood outside”.

The singer later released a press statement through his management.
