Mortuary Attendants Cry over Decomposing Corpse in Bibiani Hospital Morgue
Mortuary assistants at the Bibiani government hospital in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North region have bared their teeth at Ghana Health Service and other stakeholders for negligence over decaying corpses in the morgue.
The group referred to the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Health Service to discharge dead bodies which have been piled up at the morgue for over five years, leaving the entire environment smelling.
They noted that some unidentified bodies have been kept in the morgue for over years due to police investigations and others.
The mortuary assistants have there Called on the authorities to expedite the process to ensure the bodies are buried as soon as possible.
Speaking to the media, a mortuary attendant, expressed sorrowfully how the situation has stirred their health.
“We insist on countless unidentified dead bodies in the mortuary. The bodies have been kept here for over five years now without family showing up. Meanwhile, the police have not made provisions for mass burial. It’s seriously affecting our health, we can’t even breathe, so we are appealing to the Ghana Police Service and other relevant stakeholders to make it available for mass burial, otherwise, it will be worse,” he stated.
According to him, because of the piled-up bodies, there is no space for new entrants, perhaps causing financial loss to the hospital.
“The plight is grievously affecting the hospital since we have no vacant slot to obtain new entries because of the accrued bodies. We are citing with GPS, GHS, and stuff to grant concern to our pleas,” he added.
