Man Who Murdered His Wife Dies In Police Custody
David Ayornu, a 31-year-old inhabitant of Lufenya, near Kasseh in the Ada East District, who allegedly sliced his wife’s belly and killed her on June 3 this year, died in police custody in Ada, according to reports.
The Kasseh Police Command detained Ayornu, also known as Rapper Bee, for reportedly stabbing his wife in the stomach with a sharp object, killing her.
Chief Superintendent Atsu Dzineku, Ada Divisional Commander, confirmed Ayornu’s death to the media, saying Ayornu had been feeling sick after reportedly killing his wife.
The suspect was taken to the Ada East District Hospital, where he was treated and released, and then taken to the Kasseh police station, where he was detained until additional investigations, according to him.
Ayornu was also processed for court, following which he was remanded to help in further investigations, according to Chief Supt. Dzineku.
He added that at about 5:00 am on Sunday, June 12, Ayornu’s fellow inmates noticed he was unconscious and alerted police officers on duty. He was then taken to the Ada East District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
According to him, the body was taken to the Sogakope Hospital morgue for preservation and further examination.
The incident was also confirmed by Nene Glover Ayornu, the interim Chief of Lufenya near Kasseh and the deceased’s uncle.
He stated that the family would work with the Police Department to make the required arrangements.
