In Abuja We Experienced A Hostile Atmosphere – Kurt Okraku (GFA Prez)
Kurt Okraku, president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), claims that the Black Stars of Ghana were treated badly during their World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Abuja on Tuesday.
Throughout his professional career, he claims he has never encountered such animosity.
During a meeting with President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday at the Jubilee House, the GFA boss explained that despite the bad treatment his team received, they were able to overcome the challenges and qualify for the World Cup.
Mr. President, I’ve never seen a hostile atmosphere like we went through in Abuja. I’ve never seen, sorry but I’ll say it here. I’ve never seen match officials as hostile as we found ourselves playing against yesterday. But the indomitable fighting spirit of the Ghanaian, led by an amazing technical team kept our hopes alive”, he explained.
Kurt Okraku also used the opportunity to thank the millions of fans who cheered for the Black Stars to victory on Tuesday.
He also expressed gratitude for the government’s backing for the Black Stars.
According to him, the government’s etiquettes and efforts have all led to the Stars’ qualification.
