Illegal Motorcycles Crushed By NY Mayor
According to NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell, police have reportedly taken possession of around 2,000 unauthorized motorcycles from residents of New York since January of this year.
In comparison to the number of dirt motorcycles and ATVs taken off the streets during the same period in 2021, that amount represented an increase of 80%.
According to the mayor, he intends to seek the state government to impose stronger regulations on ATV merchants, requiring customers to provide proof of insurance and registration before making a purchase.
“Many of these bikes don’t have insurance. If they strike someone, the person is left with medical costs and other out of pocket expenses,” he said.
According to CBS New York, Adams unveiled a set of safety initiatives that primarily target the streets, walkways, and subway trains of New York City. The mayor unveiled a new MTA campaign to inform riders about the safest locations to stand on subway platforms in the wake of a terrible accident that happened last week in a subway station in Brooklyn in which a man was dragged to death after his clothes got caught in the train door as he was exiting.
