Horror As Elderly Man Taken To Morgue In Body Bag While Still Alive
In the latest symptom of dysfunction in the Covid-stricken metropolis, an elderly Shanghai resident was incorrectly proclaimed dead and brought to a mortuary in a corpse bag, in the latest sign of government-enforced lockdown.
A video captures the moment three workers wearing full protective gear react as they discover the man is still alive.
The video has subsequently gone viral on Chinese social media, causing indignation and fear.
The head of the guy, a nursing home resident, can be seen emerging from the yellow body bag as employees take it from a vehicle in the footage, which was posted on Sunday.
The individual taking the video, who appears to be from a nearby structure, can be heard saying, “The nursing home is a complete disaster. They sent a living person in a hearse to announce their death. The undertaker’s employees stated that they were still on the move. It’s irresponsible, to say the least.”
Many people voiced their surprise on Weibo, China’s version of Twitter, that such a serious mistake could have occurred, particularly in Shanghai, which has long been regarded as China’s most developed and sophisticated metropolis.
“This time, the difficulties in Shanghai are fully exposed,” said one popular Weibo comment.
Another user said, “This counts as intentional homicide.”
Many more pointed out that if the man hadn’t been discovered alive, he may have been buried or cremated.
“The administration is unconcerned… what is happening in Shanghai?”
