
Gunfight In Bawku: One Dead, Three Soldiers Wounded
During a gunfight at Barbari-Buabula, a suburb of Bawku in the Upper East Region, one person was shot dead, while three troops from the 11th Mechanized Infantry Battalion based in Bazua sustained various degrees of wounded.
According to sources, the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, March 16, 2022, during a military swoop operation that was met with resistance from neighborhood residents, culminating in gunshots.
One citizen was killed in the process, while two more were injured.
In addition, the three military personnel were shot in the arm, foot, and back.
They were promptly evacuated to the 37 military hospital for treatment after receiving first assistance at the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital.
In the recent turmoil, some homes were also set on fire.
Although calm has returned to the community, many inhabitants remain fearful.
