Gov’t Retrieves Gh 1.1 M from Ghost Accounts – Finance Minister
Member of Parliament for Ejisu Constituency and who doubles as a Deputy Minister of Finance, John Ampontuah Kumah has disclosed that some salary payments amounting to GH¢1,112,896.00 made at the Ministry have been recovered.
In a recent Auditor General report, it was revealed that some government funds have been paid to the wrong agencies and ministries.
The Ministry of Finance paid a total of 1,112,896.00 to some ghost accounts from January 2020 to December 2021.
Hon. John Ampontuah on his Facebook page noted that said the monies were recovered when the attention of the Ministry was drawn to the anomaly.
He explained that the three “ghost names” were personnel seconded to the Ministry from the Ghana Revenue Authority but there was a misunderstanding about which payroll they belonged to for the period of their secondment.
