
GJA Go To The Polls Today
Ghana Journalist Association delegates go out to vote today to elect executives to run the affairs of the association.
Voting starts in Accra at exactly 8 am at the Accra International Press center with some security personnel present to monitor the polls.
Outgoing GJA president, Roland Affail Monney has charged the next leadership to press on issues that relate o journalist attacks.
“Without the requisite capacity building, we will achieve what is expected of you as journalists. So we need to receive the topmost attention in the next administration because safety issues are dominant now due to the issues of threats against a journalist”, he said.
Over 800 delegates are expected to cast their votes to elect national and regional executives across the country today.
Editor of the Ghanaian Times, Dave Agbenu, Gayheart Mensah communication consultant, and Head of Corporate Affairs at Tobinco Group, AlbertvKwabena Duffour are contesting for the presidential position.
One of the presidential aspirants has promised to ensure the safety and protection of journalists if voted into power.
“I am not proud of belonging to any association that specializes in issuing press issues after journalists have been attacked. Are we saying that as a professional association we can not think and act proactively? That is one of the key areas I intend to look at”, he said.
