Ghanaian Man Busted, Charged After Police Chase Through Northern Virginia
After leading police on a late-night chase through Northern Virginia, a guy was apprehended and prosecuted.
According to police, Derrick R. Adjei, 24, was detained and charged with felony counts of fleeing police and careless driving. After an investigation following his detention concerning an ongoing homicide investigation, Virginia State Police also called the City of Richmond Police and a firearm was found in his SUV, according to the police.
According to the authorities, a Virginia State Police trooper observed a northbound Toyota 4Runner traveling at over 100 mph in a 70 mph zone.
At that point, the policeman attempted to halt the SUV on I-95 around the 127-mile marker in Spotsylvania County by turning on his emergency lights and sirens.
The SUV entered Prince William County, police reported, then left I-95 at Lorton’s Exit 161 before turning north on Route 1.
According to authorities, the SUV’s driver, identified as Adjei, lost control of the vehicle while turning onto Sacramento Drive and crashed into a power pole before hitting a tree.
Adjei was detained and transferred to a neighboring hospital to be treated for minor wounds, according to the police. To the Rappahannock Regional Jail he was taken.
