GH₵50,000 Bail Granted To Teacher For Allegedly Defiling SHS Student
The High Court in Tarkwa in the Western Region on Monday granted GH₵50,000 bail to a teacher for defiling a 16-year-old Asankrangwa Senior High School (SHS) student.
The court was presided over by Justice John Ekow Mensah and ordered the accused person to report every Monday to the investigator while he is to justify the bail with one surety.
The Asankrangwa District Magistrate court Granted GH₵10,000 bail to Augustine Swanzy Oduro, 34, a History teacher after he was also charged for indecent assault of a 15-year-old first-year student of the same school last week Wednesday.
The court ordered that two sureties of the bail are to be justified and the accused Mr. Donkor was not able to secure bail at the Magistrate court while transferred to High Court.
Meanwhile, the two teachers pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the case was adjourned to August 31.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) J A. Kwakye informed the court presided over by Mr. Augustine Fiifi Donful that the incident happened during the Amefi West Municipal Inter-School competition at Asankrangwa SHS on July 14, 2022.
He said the two teachers took the victims out of the school and buy them new dresses for their birthday celebration.
ASP said around 2 pm on the same day, the suspects send the girls to a hotel at Wassa Dunkwa near Asankrangwa.
According to the prosecutor, the teachers buy Malta Guinness for the girls.
“The victim returned from the washroom and after drinking the Malta Guinness fell dizzy and went blackout. she regained consciousness later and found herself on the bed naked with blood stains in between her thighs. Oduro while in the room made sexual body contact with the 15-year-old victim by buttocks,” ASP said.
The prosecution said that on their way back to campus, Donkor promised to buy iPhone7plus, pizza, and food for the 16-year-old girl and warned them not to tell anybody about the incident at the hotel.
ASP said the victims reported the incident to the Assistant Headmaster of the School and he also Forward the case to Asankrangwa police.
