GBA Warns Lawyer Sosu
Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu has received a severe warning from the Ghana Bar Association (GBA).
The comments made by Lawyer Sosu, Member of Parliament for the Madina Constituency, were described by the association as disrespectful and unprofessional.
After Sosu Sosu admonished judges against becoming partisan along political lines, this remark was made.
“I am begging you, if you make yourself a political judge, you will be treated as a political judge,” Sosu said to the media during the “Yentua Demo” on Thursday, February 10. Sosu is on trial in court for unlawful road blockade and destruction of public property after leading some constituents in Danfa to demonstrate against their bad roads on Monday, October 25, 2021.
The GBA says the allegations by Francis Xavier Sosu Esq. is unprofessional, unfortunate, irresponsible, and distasteful, and that it smacks of deep-seated ignorance because the tenure of judges is never in any way tied to the tenure of the political regime under which judges are appointed, according to the Constitution of 1992 and other relevant laws.
