Ghanaians slammed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, then the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, after a 2013 tweet in which he claimed that previous President John Mahama’s government had lost focus and only knew how to tax them surfaced.

In a tweet on November 26, 2013, Nana Addo said: “The governement lacks focus, and only knows how to tax and borrow, and not how to govern for the people”.

Nana Akufo-Addo has come underfire after the member of parliament passed a bill on electronic taxes yet to be assented to a law by the president.
