
FDA Reveals 53 Victims Of Alleged Food Poisoning At Marwako Can Sue
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has confirmed that the 53 victims who were admitted to various health facilities as a result of suspected food poisoning at the East Legon branch of Marwako Fast Food have the right to sue the corporation.
The medical expenditures of 53 customers who were sickened by the food poisoning were paid by Marwako’s management, but the FDA claims it has no compensation for them [victims] and that they can seek legal action.
Mawarko was fined GHS750, 000 by the FDA after they were found guilty of eleven infractions and for discarding the evidence of their investigations as well as the allegedly contaminated food.
The Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs for the FDA, Joseph Bennie, explained that “he victims of the poisoning have the right to sue whoever caused the harm”.
