The owners of Oasis Pool and Shisha Lounge in Accra have been fined GHc480,248.00 for illegally consuming energy.

This calculation was made for over a year of power usage.

On Wednesday, April 27, the Ghanaian Electricity Company unplugged the facility of prominent hip-hop musician D-Black due to an illegal connection.

The facility is situated behind Accra’s police headquarters.

The facility’s managers have been given 14 days to pay or face punishment.

The ECG’s National Revenue Protection Taskforce is tasked with pursuing all deeply indebted institutions around the country.

They are responsible for cleaning up any illegalities in the system, such as meter bypass, meter manipulation, and the usage of electricity without matching billing.

So far, the power distribution firm has dealt with a few institutions that have had a similar destiny.
