ECG Disconnects One of Kumasi Technical University’s Campuses over non-payment of Bills
One of the campuses of Kumasi Technical University, the Adamo Jachie campus in the Ashanti Region has been cut off from electricity supply. A move the Electricity Company of Ghana has described as necessary due to their non-payment of electricity bills.
The management of the University has however described the decision by ECG as unfair.
Meanwhile, School’s Relations Officer, Dr. Charles Obeng-Sarpong in a media interview on Citi News complained that the school had not received bills for a very long time.
He noted that the University is disappointed at the action Electricity Company of Ghana.
Mr. Obeng revealed that they were cut off power supply just a day after receiving a bill from ECG.
Dr. Charles Obeng Sarpong added that the University management is engaging the authorities at ECG to ensure that power is restored as early as possible since the students in the two affected halls are preparing for exams.
“The situation now is that we are talking to them to quickly restore power. We worry that these students are young people who are getting prepared for an examination.”
