
E/R: Woman Sentenced For Stealing A Baby
A 33-year-old woman was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Asamakese Circuit Court for stealing a baby in Bodua, a community near Akwatia in the Eastern Region.
Priscilla Owusua will be sentenced to hard labor.
The convict, known as Haggar, was originally accused of stealing and sentenced to two years in prison under sections 23(1) and 93 of the Criminal Offenses Acts 1960. (Act 29).
She was also convicted of snatching a kid under section 93 of the Criminal Offences Acts 1960 (Acts 29) and sentenced to seven years in prison.
The sentences, on the other hand, must be read in order.
Stephen Appiah, her accomplice, pleaded not guilty to the allegations and was remanded in custody for further investigation.
The prosecution, Detective Chief Inspector Agbeko Novor, informed the court that the complainant is a farmer who lives in Boadua with her husband, and that the accused people also live there.
