Drinking is not a sin, I drink a lot of beer – Asiedu Nketia
Nothing or no one, according to Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), can prohibit him from drinking alcohol.
According to him, Ghanaian law does not prohibit anyone above the age of 18 from drinking responsibly.
“I have not stopped drinking, I drink a lot of beer, and drinking beer is not a sin. No one has been arrested by the police for operating a beer bar or beer factory” he said on an Accra-based FM station monitored by VimNewsGhana.
Mr. Nketia was responding to accusations that he was a drunkard made by his political opponents.
Some members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) blame his ‘vile’ attacks on the government on his heavy drinking.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia, also known as General Mosquito, was photographed with a bottle of beer in a viral photo, according to the NPP.
These claims, according to the NDC top writer, are made by his “enemies” who wish to smear his hard-won reputation.
When asked if he had stopped drinking as a result of the claims, General Mosquito replied, “I drink beer a lot.”
