Dispute At Bawku: Man, 81 Killed By Gunmen
According to reports, a man was murdered when gunmen opened fire in the Upper East Region town of Bawku.
According to local authorities, the deceased has been identified as Mohammed, an 81-year-old Fulani man.
According to some locals caught in the crossfire, the new violence began at noon and ended around 3:00 p.m., following which it erupted again.
“The deceased was a horse merchant who was shot to death while on his way to bring water to his horse.
A similar occurrence occurred in February when another guy was slain near a security zone. It appears like the security deployment is insufficient,” a resident told reporters.
“So around 1:00 a.m., soldiers were back in town shooting.
For the sake of the people, let me assume that they are accustomed to it. Everyone has gone home today because it’s a market day,” an eyewitness stated.
“Now we’re all inside. There are fears that things will get worse overnight,” the eyewitness added.
