Cement Price To Rise From June 15

The price of a cement bag is expected to rise from June 15, 2022, manufacturers disclosed. A bag of cement will cost GHC 66 from today.

According to sources, Accra will be affected the most as some manufacturers want to cancel transportation costs to other regions.

Speaking at an Accra-based station, one manufacturer said, “we can control the factory price but we are not sure about the retail price on the markets in other regions”.

Nonetheless, “we will try our best to reduce the price after the transportation and other related costs have been added to the products”. Manufacturers attributed the increment to the depreciation of the Ghana Cedi, hike in petroleum products, and also the high cost of transport fares.

The major concern is also at the ports where they are forced to add the charges on the products to the price of the products for consumers.

With this, the price of house rents will increase drastically in the country.
