Cable Thief Electrocuted
A young man attempted to steal a cable at the Bulk Supply Point (BSP) in Aflao, Ketu South Municipality, Volta Region, but was electrocuted by the cable he was attempting to steal.
Apart from being electrocuted, the suspect, 32-year-old Eric Kofi Quaye, was also burned in the process.
Even though he is alive, the thief suffered serious burns from head to toe.
The BSP in question is located in Aflao, along the Diamond Cement Road.
It is divided into two divisions, one managed by ECG and the other by GRIDCO.
Benjamin Antwi, the Public Relations Officer of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Volta/Oti, reported the incident occurred around 5:20 a.m. on April 13, 2022.
According to early evidence, the suspect interfered with the cable with the intent of cutting it.
He was electrocuted, unfortunately for him.
Thousands of residents who rely on the BSP for electricity had power outages as a result of this.
