C/R 12 Persons Die in Car Accident
12 persons are feared dead after a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number WR 1347- 17 collided head-on with DAF Truck with registration number GM 2570-12 at Eduegyei on the Cape Coast-Takoradi highway in the Central Region killing 12 people.
The bodies have been taken to Cape Coast Teaching Hospital including one surviving lady who is receiving treatment.
Narrating the incident to the media, an eyewitness revealed that:
“The DAF Truck which was coming from Takoradi towards Cape Coast was overtaking a vehicle ahead of it in a poor visibility area due to smoke from a burning bush, and run into the Toyota Hiace bus which was traveling from Kumasi to Takoradi”
The Ghana National Fire Service, GNFS, from the Elmina fire station assisted the police team to extricate the victims to search for survivors but, only one lady was rescued alive.
Reports from GNFS say, they did not meet the driver of the DAF Truck at the scene and do not know his whereabouts. Further investigation into the incident will be carried out by the Ghana Police Service.
