Building Collapse Kills Two In Ashanti Region
Two people have been declared deceased after a building’s fence wall collapsed on them in Kumasi’s Atasemanso-Konkronmpase.
Another person is in critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and is receiving treatment (KATH).
When another wall fell on the deceased and their pals, who were all masons, they were erecting a fence wall.
One of the three people who were trapped was rescued by a mixed police-fire rescue team.
The squad discovered the two others’ lifeless bodies.
“I was working at one side of the building when I heard a loud bang,” a distraught worker said.
“Some workers and I rushed towards where the sound came from only to see a wall had collapsed on our colleagues. We tried to rescue them but to no avail. Personnel from the Fire Service and police were swift in arriving at the scene but only one person was rescued.”
The building’s contractor has now been apprehended by the authorities to aid in the inquiry.
