Bawku Killings: 4 Dead, 5 Suspects Busted
The Bawku Municipal Police Command has arrested five people in connection with the murders of four people in Bawku, in the Upper East Region.
This comes after intermittent shootings on Monday, May 9, 2022, which claimed the lives of four people: three men and one woman.
“We seek government intervention to buy the weaponry,” said Bawku Municipal Police Commander Superintendent Simon Peter Akabati, who verified the arrest.
“That might fix the problem, or we’ll hire you if you bring your arm. That is more comforting than simply handing over the cash. We’re still looking into it because we don’t know why these things are happening.”
“We believe it was a retaliatory attack, with four persons killed: three men and one woman.”
“Five people have been arrested, and we’re going to court this morning to arraign them.”
As a result, he has urged the government to act and buy back illegal guns from civilians in Bawku and its environs.
The Commander feels that government intervention is the most effective approach to stop the death of innocent people in the region with guns.
