Barekese Riot: Police prevent youths from attacking Chief
The police in Ashanti Region have deployed officers to Barekese to stop the angry youths from attacking the chief of the area.
Since Sunday, August 21st, Nana Amoapem Brenya II’s palace has been under serious attack in Wake of the Akwasidae sacred festival.
The overlord of Barekese has been accused of preventing development in the area and allegedly deploying thugs to rid people of their lands and properties.
The youth camped around the king’s palace waiting to besiege the king.
In a video cited by Vimnewsghana.com, the armed policemen had formed a human barricade as the chief and his subjects left the palace into a waiting vehicle.
Some angry residents threw objects in his direction and hooted at him.
Police are yet to arrest any perpetrator.
