Atibie Accident: One Person Dead, Two Others Injured
While descending Odweanoma Mountain, a Toyota Yaris with the registration number GS 6040-21 rolled over and crashed into a ditch, killing one passenger and injuring two others.
Aforleho Tawiah was the driver of the car.
Comfort Obenewaa, 24, Kwadwo Osei, 26, and Edmond Oduro, 32, were the passengers and were taken to the Kwahu Government Hospital for treatment.
Kwadwo Osei was taken to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, where he died on Sunday, April 18, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ebenezer Tetteh, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer.
He stated that the body has been stored for autopsy at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital Mortuary.
The occupants were driving to Atibie from the Odweanoma Mountain on April 16 when their vehicle abruptly went off the road into an offside thicket before crashing in a ditch, according to Mr Tetteh.
The driver and vehicle licensing authority has yet to remove the accident car from the scene for inspection and testing.
This is the second catastrophe in less than a week at Atibie; the first occurred during the Kwahu Easter celebrations, killing one person and injuring eleven others.
