Abronye DC Granted GHc100,000 Bail
Kwame Baffoe, the governing New Patriotic Party’s Bono Regional Chairman, has been granted GHS 100,000 bail with two sureties who must surrender their passports at the court registry.
Mr. Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, was detained on suspicion of plotting a coup against former President John Mahama.
His trial has been adjourned to March 9, 2022.
Mr. Baffoe’s lawyers argued that he is a well-known public figure and a farmer with two homes in the country.
His lawyers told him that he will appear in court whenever necessary.
The Ghana Police Service had no objections to the bail request, and the judge recognized that the case was a misdemeanor, thus he was given bail.
Mr. Baffoe was detained by the Accra Regional Command on Tuesday after he accepted their invitation to investigate the claims.
He was then charged with fake news dissemination and offensive conduct conducive to a breach of peace.
