8-Year-Old Girl Killed In Highway Robbery
An 8-Year-Old Girl has been killed during a Highway Robbery in the Ashanti Region.
The Ashanti Regional Police are on the lookout for some alleged Fulani armed robbers who ambushed a Yeji heading bus at Woraso early on Thursday.
The criminals reportedly blocked the main Ejura-Mampong road at Woraso to begin the robbery, according to an eyewitness.
“They brandished assault rifles and flashed a warning light, indicating that I should stop. I initially mistook them for police until I drew closer, at which point I saw they were Fulani men. They snatched my 500 and instructed me to lie down,” said Fatawu Bonu, a truck driver.
“The criminals shot intermittently into my bus before they entered to loot the passengers,” said Derrick Opare, 41, a Yeji-bound bus driver.
“They discovered an 8-year-old girl, Bridgit Wuogo, had been shot in the head after they had escaped with their plunder,” Derrick continued.
Later, the police arrived to gather evidence.
