28-Year-Old Man In Jail For Defiling a 12-Year-Old Girl
A 28-year-old tricycle rider was sentenced to 15 years in jail by the Koforidua Circuit Court “A” presided over by Her Honour Marrian Affoh for defiling a 12-year-old girl in Akyem Osiem in the Eastern Region.
According to the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Solomon Keelson, the convict, Carley Amankwaa, is a tricycle rider in Akyem Osiem, and the victim, a schoolchild, lives with her grandmother, who sells local gin “akpeteshie” in the same village.
According to the prosecutor, the convict is a grandmother’s customer who is occasionally served by the victim.
In the presence of the victim’s grandmother, the convict had been telling her that she was lovely and that he would marry her when she grew up.
The grandmother mistook his trite compliment for a joke.
In January 2022, the convict promised to provide the victim a Christmas gift, so he directed his house to pick out the presents.
He claimed the deceased went to obtain water from a local well on January 27, 2022, at 5:30 p.m., but did not come home.
Attempts to locate her during the night were fruitless.
The victim returned home disappointed the next day about 5:30 a.m.
She told her grandma that when she went to fetch water, the convict kept her hostage and forced sexual contact with her.
The victim’s uncle filed a complaint with the Osiem Police Station, which resulted in his arrest by Officer Rosemond Odai.
He was assigned to the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters’ Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU).
Dr. Edwin Addo -Quaye signed the medical documents, which were supplied for medical examination.
Carley Amankwaa, the defendant, admitted to the crime and was charged accordingly.
He pleaded guilty and asked for forgiveness in court on Thursday, February 2, 2022.
However, despite the fact that he was a first-time offender, the judge sentenced him based on his own guilty plea.
