25-year-old mason’s fingers nearly chopped of in land guard attack
Michael Atuah, a 25-year-old mason, nearly lost three fingers in an alleged machete attack at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region by accused land guards.
The victim and a few coworkers were reportedly working at a construction site when the suspects stormed the area brandishing a metal rod, a machete, and a kitchen knife, among other weapons.
The victim attempted to defend his head as the suspect struck, swinging the knife at his back and nearly cutting off three of his left fingers.
Before fleeing the area, the perpetrators are said to have thrown away the victim’s GHC $500.00 along with the firearms.
When they arrived on the scene, the victim’s fingers were merely soft tissue attached, according to an eyewitness.
He was given immediate medical attention at the Mercy Women’s Hospital in Mankessim.
While the case is being investigated, the police have already detained two of the suspects.
