15 student Nurses, Midwives Asked To Repeat Or Be Expelled
About 15 student nurses and midwives at Atibie Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Kwahu, Eastern Region, have been told they must repeat a year lower or face expulsion.
According to the college’s principal, these students’ grade retention was prompted by their failure to achieve a cumulative GPA of 1.50 or above during their first and second semester tests.
The college’s Principal, Argartha Ekuaban, wrote a letter to the affected students titled “Academic Reshuffle,” in which she stated, “I write to inform you that the Principal and the academic office of the aforementioned institution have determined that you repeat your class due to low academic performance.” This is now a requirement.
Your CGPA for the first and second semester examination results fell below 1.50, necessitating this action.
“You will be expected to join the first-year students for the 2021/2022 academic year,” the letter added.
Please take note of this new development and follow it to prevent being kicked out of college.”
After paying their semester fees for the second year and registering for the academic year, the students received the letter.
The students who were affected petitioned the principal to allow them to retake the subjects in which they had failed, but their request was denied.
