10 Narrowly Escape Death In Fatal Accident Near Kumasi Airport
A trailer loaded with bags of cashew collapsed on a commercial bus (trotro) and a cab at the airport roundabout in the Ashanti Regional capital Kumasi, just avoiding death for more than ten people.
Some passengers and the trailer’s driver were injured to varying degrees and were sent to the Komfo Anokye and Manhyia Government Hospitals for treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, the trailer with the registration number AE 354 – 12 is suspected of having failed brakes, but when it saw danger, it decided to hit a roundabout to save lives, but it smashed into the two vehicles.
“The trailer was approaching quickly. Because of the way he was honking and advising people to get out of the path, it was clear that the vehicle had failed to break. He intended to utilize the roundabout as a guard to avoid injuring others, but instead of reversing, the trotro and taxi drivers rapidly crossed and were caught up in the collision,” one eyewitness, Chike, described.
